What is AMZScout?
🚀 AMZScout includes a set of research tools to help struggling sellers find a profitable product and beat the competition on Amazon. It does this by providing them with accurate market data and letting sellers target existing products which have had proven success.
AMZScout is based out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The company also has an established connection with Alibaba, which we will learn more about later in my AMZScout review.
AMZScout is geared toward Amazon beginners but also works well for veteran sellers, looking for a deeper understanding of the market. There are lots of educational resources included that help both beginners and experienced sellers get the edge over their competitors.
Below, we will dive into AMZScout’s four primary tools:
- Pro Extension
- Product Database
- Reverse ASIN Lookup
- Keyword Search
✔ AMZScout PRO Extension
The AMZScout PRO Extension is probably the most popular tool included. It’s a Google Chrome extension that automatically displays as you browse the Amazon site. This means you can see things from the perspective of an Amazon customer, providing you with some useful insights.
You only need to go to the app’s Google Chrome store page to install the application. From there, simply click the “add to chrome” button to install it. You’ll know the installation was successful if you see an icon in the bottom-left corner.
If you haven’t already, AMZScout will ask you to sign in. You can get started with the AMZScout free trial, which lets you test out some of the main features.
features included with the AMZScout Pro Extension
The AMZScout PRO Extension is built directly onto Amazon’s website. Anytime you click the bottom-left icon, you get access to a list of features. Here’s a quick overview of what you can expect:
- A table that breaks down the top results for whatever you search for (see the image above)
- The table will contain details like the brand, category, Product Score, Resale Score, and the number of sellers (alongside other data points). We will define what a Product Score is later.
- Other important data points related to the average sales rank, reviews, price, visibility score, and Niche Score. We will look at the AMZScout Niche Score later.
- A product tracker that lets you create lists of potential products.
- A profit calculator to find out whether a product is worth investing in.
- Product history information to find how a product performs from a long-term perspective.
- A link to related Alibaba listings and suppliers (or you can find the product on Google)
If you are a new seller, all this data can seem a little overwhelming. The options menu (found through the cog in the upper-right corner) lets you filter the data that appears.

This brings us to an area where AMZScout really excels: simplicity. You don’t need to be a tech wizard to find out what works because AMZScout does all the work for you. You can quickly identify the best products based on proven sales and success.
Product Scores and Niche Scores – what do they mean?
AMZScout simplifies the data by breaking products down by different scores. These are known as the Product and Niche Scores. Product scores focus on the sellability of a product, while niche scores focus on the sellability of a group of related products (otherwise known as a niche).
What are AMZScout Product Scores?
Product Scores refer to the potential salability of a product. The scores are based on various factors that change depending on the sales strategy you want to use. The maximum value of this indicator is 10. A score over 7 means that the product is likely to be profitable.
There are two Product Scores: one for resale and one for PL (private label). These divide up your resale potential by different selling strategies.
Private Label Products are products you get from a third-party manufacturer but add your own branding. Private label scores focus on profit, how many reviews you need, the listing quality of competitors, and the revenue opportunity.
Reselling is for people who sell using retail arbitrage, online arbitrage, or dropshipping. This type of product score concerns the amount of competition and the number of sales this product gets.
You can decide how you want to enter the product market by breaking this down into different selling strategies. This also appeals to sellers who specialize in different areas, giving them more information without being too overwhelming.
What are AMZScout Niche Scores?
Niche Scores are more focused on the potential to expand into other related products. The Niche Score gathers data for products in related Amazon searches.
A high Niche Score can be an important factor to consider. It is always a lot easier to sell similar products because you already know where to source them, they might share designs, and it’s easier to market to existing customers. You won’t have to reinvent the wheel for each new product.
You can find the niche score by clicking it on the top of your AMZScout PRO Extension table. When you click the “niche score“ button, you’ll see a menu from the image above.
Much like the product score, it tries to break things down, focusing on the three most important areas:
- Profit – It provides data on the profit margins and how close it is to desired prices (which tends to result in the most gain).
- Demand – This looks at the number of sales and the age of the niche to determine if people want it and how long the product has been around. Older products can mean older, well-established sellers.
- Competition – Compares many factors, such as review count, average rating, competition, the number of sellers, listing quality, and the top brand competition.
These three areas provide the right information for sellers wanting to break into a new niche.
Much like with the Product Scores, what makes the AMZScout Niche Score so useful is its focus on results. Rather than providing an overwhelming amount of data, AMZScout highlights the most critical factors.
For sellers who like to delve deeper, historical data might be an excellent first step…
Historical data tracking using AMZScout’s Pro Extension
Historical data is often crucial when deciding on which products to sell. AMZScout provides this historical data on both a niche and a product basis.
You can sort all this historical data from a month to several years. This tells you when you can expect customers to purchase your product, which helps avoid costly stockouts and maintain a high Amazon seller rating.
Because all the data is converted into a simple chart, it’s easier to understand. You can also download a CSV file of the raw data if you prefer to work with spreadsheets and crunch the numbers. Using these files, you can easily compare different niches to determine which products have the most potential.
Niche historical data focuses on one or two-year increments. Because you are working with larger data sets, shorter periods don’t really give you a bird’s-eye view of the niche.
The PRO Extension is the most popular of AMZScout’s tools for a reason. It is one of the most powerful product research tools currently available for Amazon business sellers. You can also use all this data to do product research for other third-party marketplaces, like eBay or Shopify.
AMZScout also has three other tools to help you stay competitive…
✔ AMZScout Product Database
The AMZScout Product Database doesn’t rely on Amazon’s search system. Instead, the web app works on a search engine geared towards selling on the Amazon marketplace.
This search engine is great for product research. It is particularly useful for finding trending products, new products, and current price ranges. The AMZScout Product Database is useful for both new and established Amazon FBA sellers.
The product database search engine lets you include 24 categories, specific keywords, and your desired price range. This enables you to look for product types that meet your specific needs. For example, you might want to search for a product between $15 and $50 (the price range suggested by the PRO Extension).
Using the built-in product selections feature, you can also filter by new products, trending products, and proven stats. Choosing one or multiple categories might help you take advantage of trending products.
There are more advanced search filters worth testing:
- Number of reviews
- Estimated sales
- Review count
- Seller type (whether Amazon or third-party sellers are involved)
- Product tier (standard vs. oversize items)
- Weight
- Sales rank
- Estimated revenue
- Product rating
- When it was first available
- Listing quality (AMZScout uses a Listing Quality Score to determine if the listing has a good description)
The AMZScout Product Database focuses on lots of the key aspects of finding a product to sell on Amazon. With all this data, you can discover products that are easiest to launch, promote, and then manage.
Regardless of which research tool you decide to use, you can use the AMZScout Product Tracker to keep a list of potential products. As an Amazon seller, you can use this for everything from new product development to your wholesale operations.
✔ AMZScout Keyword Search
Keyword lookup tools let you find and target keywords based on what your potential customers are actually looking for. These keywords can also often help in your product research process.
AMZScout’s keyword explorer tool lets you see the number of people searching for any keyword and also brings up all the related keywords you should target.
For example, if you want to search for feather bed products, you would enter the seed keyword “feather bed.” AMZScout then generates a series of related keywords based on what you enter like “feather bed pillow” or “feather bed cover”.
AMZScout’s keyword research tool also lets you inspect historical keyword data. By clicking on the graph icon to the right, you’ll see a bar graph that shows you the keyword searches on a month-by-month basis.
This is where the length of the keyword becomes important. The keyword length is critical because it helps you target less competitive areas. Long-tail keywords have lower search volume but can be more targeted on your exact product, therefore more likely to result in sales. It’s probably best to focus initially on these and then in the future hope to start ranking for the more competitive, high-volume, primary keywords.
Using AMZScout, you can create a comprehensive keyword strategy for PPC advertising, listing creation, and optimization. These keyword strategies can help you dominate Amazon SEO and makes sure you appear in the customers’ search results.

✔ AMZScout Reverse ASIN Lookup
You can use AMZScout’s Reverse ASIN Lookup Tool to supplement your keyword research. This tool lets you find out what your competitors are using in their keyword strategies. 🧐
This competitor data enables you to target similar keywords or spot keyword gaps and opportunities. You will then better understand your product’s potential by comparing your research list to your competitor’s research list.
You can easily get the ASIN from any product listing, either in the URL or description. You then simply paste it into the ASIN section of the tool to get all the keywords the product ranks for.
If you are using the PRO Extension to identify a new sales opportunity, you can simply use the Reverse ASIN Lookup tool to find out more about the keywords that your potential competition is targeting.
You can also use this information as an Amazon private label seller to find out what competitors selling similar products are doing and what they might be missing. This could then be an easy opportunity for you.
To track the keywords you want to target, you can also download the Amazon Keyword Tracker & Reverse ASIN Lookup Tool. This tool lets you see your keyword-based ranking changes or your competition’s keywords. This way, you can respond as your competitor targets similar keywords.

✔ Extra Features You Get With AMZScout
AMZScout comes with a few additional features, primarily educational but also including some extra product-based data.
AMZScout comes with a series of courses. The courses you get depend on the subscription level you pay for (which we will break down in the next section). Here are some of the AMZScout courses available:
- A course on how to launch your new Amazon brand with a $3000 budget.
- Courses on the basics of Amazon wholesale, arbitrage, and dropshipping selling strategies.
- Various one-hour masterclasses from successful Amazon sellers teaching you their secrets.
- Amazon University, which teaches you advanced research methods and tools (these do cost extra).
Beyond these learning resources, you also get some extra data on trending products. These can be found under the “Trends & Product Ideas” tab, which might give you some extra inspiration for new products.
New product ideas are added for users both monthly and weekly. These regular updates make sure new sellers have fresh product ideas to target, so they are not competing with each other.
Other unique reports include a list of five products that cost less than $1 to source and the ‘secret hype’ products.
There’s also an optional tool for specific Amazon selling strategies known as the Dropshipping, Arbitrage, and Wholesale Extension. This is a great tool if you are using any of these rather than private labeling, but it does cost extra.
AMZScout Pricing Plans
To cut a long story short, AMZScout is good value. It generally comes out cheaper for similar packages when compared with Helium 10 or Jungle Scout. This makes it particularly popular for new sellers wanting to launch their first private-label product on Amazon.
You can choose from three payment plans: monthly, yearly, and lifetime.
AMZScout Monthly Plans
Monthly plans are limited to the Amazon Sellers Bundle. The bundle includes all the main tools mentioned above but not the optional Dropshipping, Arbitrage, and Wholesale Extension (which costs an extra $10 per month).
The monthly cost of the Seller’s Bundle is $49.99 per month (or $59.99 per month with the additional Dropshipping, Arbitrage, and Wholesale Extension).

AMZScout Yearly Plans
Yearly plans let you choose between subscribing to the PRO Extension and education tools by themselves or the Seller’s Bundle. Here’s a breakdown of your cost options for yearly subscriptions:
- The PRO Extension and educational resources are $279.99 per year.
- The Amazon Sellers Bundle is $399.99 per year (compared with $599 if paying monthly).
- The optional extension costs $100 per year (compared with $120 if paying monthly).
💰 AMZScout PRO Extension Yearly: $23.33 per month – Get Started Today >>
💰 AMZScout Sellers Bundle Yearly: $33.33 per month – Get Started Today >>
AMZScout Lifetime Plans
For those who want to make even bigger savings, AMZScout also offers a lifetime plan. The AMZScout lifetime deal comes with two options:
- The PRO Extension and educational resources for $599.99 for life.
- The Amazon Seller’s Bundle for $1599.99 for life.
💰 AMZScout PRO Extension Lifetime: $599.99 – Get Started Today >>
💰 AMZScout Sellers Bundle Lifetime: $1599.99 – Get Started Today >>
If you can afford the upfront costs and are planning to be selling online for years to come, then opting for one of the Lifetime plans basically means all the tools become free to use after 2- 4 years, depending on the subscription you choose.
For new sellers just testing the water or on a tight budget, then I would say the monthly or yearly plans are probably the best option.

AMZScout Alternatives
Of course, AMZScout isn’t the only Amazon research tool in the game. There are two other major players worth mentioning: Helium 10 and Jungle Scout.
Here’s a quick comparison of how AMZScout, Helium 10, and Jungle Scout compare.
AMZScout vs Helium 10
Helium 10 is now considered one of the most comprehensive toolsets for third-party Amazon sellers. As you can see in our full Helium 10 Review, you get an incredible number of tools and features included.
Helium 10 includes keyword explorer, trend research tools, and inventory management tools. You’ll also find tools to help you with Amazon SEO and listing optimization. Overall, it’s pretty comparable to AMZScout, but there are some pros and cons.
Where Helium 10 comes out on top is with the sheer range of tools to which they are constantly adding. Helium 10 also includes their highly rated Freedom Ticket private label course in some of their packages.
The main advantage AMZScout has over Helium 10 is the lower cost when looking at a comparable set of tools. Helium 10 seems to have a lower starting cost, at $29 per month. However, you don’t get access to all the tools for this price point, whereas you do with the AMZScout basic package.
It’s almost impossible to compare like for like, but I would say it would cost about $90 per month with Helium 10 to get a similar set of features you get with AMZScout’s $49 package.
Helium 10 also has some issues with customer service. Their Trustpilot reviews give Helium 10 around two stars. Meanwhile, AMZScout is at almost a perfect five stars, giving it a considerable advantage in customer service. In Helium’s defense, I always take these review site ratings with a pinch of salt, as they can be manipulated.

AMZScout VS Jungle Scout
Jungle Scout is probably the best known, original king of Amazon private label research software.
On paper, Jungle Scout has an impressive list of features. These features include historical data, keyword tracking, and automated features. It is also great for product launches, review automation, and sourcing and shipping from China.
Again, the way these companies price their software makes it very difficult to do comparisons. I would say that with Jungle Scout, you would pay about $80 per month for a set of tools comparable to those included with AMZScout’s $49 per month package.
Jungle Scout does offer cheaper plans, but they come with restrictive limits. For example, you can only track 20 products on the tracker compared with 150 with AMZ Scout.
Looking at Trustpilot, Jungle Scout, and AMZScout, both do pretty well averaging about 4.6 stars.

Conclusion – Is AMZScout Worth It?
I think the various AMZScout Chrome Extensions and tools now offer a solid alternative to Jungle Scout and Helium 10. This means AMZScout probably comes out on top when looking at value for money.
AMZScout is particularly well suited to new Amazon sellers. This is because they don’t have strict limits on tracking products and keywords, meaning you can do more for your money.
For those on a really tight budget, you can even use a number of the AMZScout tools for free, like the AMZScout Sales Estimator and the AMZScout FBA Fees Calculator.
Even if you are an Amazon veteran, you should get value from the masterclasses and additional tools. Whether you use the AMZScout extension or just the web tools, I think AMZScout now offers a great value-for-money alternative to Jungle Scout and Helium 10.
